Artist's Comments

I've been trying my hand at speedpainting for a while, and this is the first piece that I felt worthy of showing off.

Done in Photoshop CS2 with a Graphire 2 tablet in about two and a half hours.

Entirely fueled by Opeth and Agalloch.

I like the perspective. Trees look pretty cool.

They played a show in my city last night, but I couldn't get tickets ;-;

Thanks, though!

Wow, this is very good man.
The colors are nicely chosen, and they blend so well.
I like the trees on the left, and the banks go well with the perspective.

Speed painting sounds disastrous for me, but good for you getting a very cool result out of it! :)

Dang, I'm going when they come around here! I already got my ticket ^^ teehee counting down the days

It's great fun. The trick is not to get attached to any part of it - just paint over anything that's not moving, and don't have more than a vague idea when you start.

That does sound like good advice, and I see what you mean, as anything overthought and corrected repeatedly kind of takes the essence out of speed painting.

This sounds like a great way to build a common knowledge of characteristics of objects, like the branches on a tree, so that drawing them becomes more automatic rather than trial-and-error. :)
